Health Office Visits

Please remind your student that if they aren't feeling well that they come down to the health room prior to contacting a parent from the classroom or a bathroom. We encourage them to see the nurse to assess the health and safety of each student. It is intended to ensure that a student isn't in distress and in need of immediate assistance. Should the illness require a call home from the school nurse, or office staff, will notify the parent with the concern.

Any student who is throwing up, has a temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher,  or sustains a serious injury is required to go home. We will call primary contacts first but if we are unable to reach contacts within a reasonable amount of time, we will begin to call emergency contacts. Students that are asked to return home should be picked up within 60 minutes.

Suggested Guidelines for Keeping Your Student Home from School

  • If your student has been throwing up and/or has a temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher the night before, he or she should stay home for at least 24 hours.

  • If your student has what appears to be pink eye (Pink or red color in the white of the eye(s), swelling of the conjunctiva (the thin layer that lines the white part of the eye and the inside of the eyelid) and/or eyelids, Itching, irritation, and/or burning), please get him/her checked before sending to school.

  • If anyone in the home has a contagious illness, please monitor your student closely before sending him/her to school.

Our school nurse, Amy Guillen, RN, 303-387-4477, is also available to discuss any signs, symptoms or concerns about COVID or any other contagious illness.
